I’m here today to highlight a Great Blues Man

“Johnny Winter”!

It’s funny that whenever I hear talk about who’s the best guitar player, I rarely hear Johnny on that list yet any of these other guitar greats would surely agree that Johnny is tops on this list in so many ways. He played with such ease with an accommodating Great blues voice or sometimes just an intermittent growl or simply using his voice as an instrument. And above all though I never met the man I can tell that he was also a cool and friendly guy that any of us would have enjoyed spending some time with given the chance. There’s a lot of Johnny’s music to enjoy but I’ve selected just a couple of tunes for this segment designed to give you a taste, leave you wanting more and saying “Mmmm that’s so Good!”

But Wait!! What about Edgar!?

Yes! How can we talk about Johnny without including brother Edgar? Two Great Musicians/Performers with slightly different talents. Johnny being a Great Blues Man but Edgar stayed true to Rock n Roll. Edgar is a Multi talented/Multi Instrumentalist with an Excellent voice range. The first tune I’ve selected for your tasting pleasure is “Keep Playin’ That Rock n Roll” with the lyrics being a story of their early success. The second tidbit is an excellent live version of “Frankenstein” which started as a jam for dual drummers then turned into a synthesizer tune and going from a long jam to a chopped up version cut for an album hence the name “Frankenstein”. Then it ended up on a B-side of a single that a radio DJ played the wrong side of and it became a Huge hit. Though I’ve tried to select all live songs with video for your viewing and listening pleasure, it would be a disservice to you and Edgar if I didn’t include “Livin’ In The USA” from the “White Trash” “Roadwork” album. You would be hard pressed to find a more rockin’ tune than this. One of my personal all time favorites! So whether you’re hearing this stuff for the first time or stirring up old memories, it might seem like a big bite but it’s……
