Today’s special is an old recipe that never disappoints….. I must admit I’ve had a hard time doing a short write-up on this band… See, I grew up listening to these guys and I’m loaded with memories of great times and great friends that I miss dearly aside from the music itself…But aah the music… Full of attitude, Rock-n-Roll, Funk and a big dose of Cool and raw talent making them tops in entertainment. Truly one of the best live bands I’ve had the pleasure to see. I’ll admit that it was the earlier stuff that caught my ear the most. They did end up moving genres a bit into a Pop Rock with songs like “Freeze Frame” and “Centerfold” and others…

It was all good stuff!!

There’s a lot of history with this band as they progressed but my heart is with the music with Peter Wolf the “Moofa Goofa” at the helm and “Magic Dick” on the harp. I have selected three live songs and one Studio track to demonstrate the in your face live rock that will put you on your feet with “Whammer Jammer” and “Detroit Breakdown” and “One Last Kiss” that just has a way about it that you can’t get it out of your head and finishing with “Monkey Island” just to further emphasize the diversity of their talent. Now I know there’ll be some J.Geils fans out there that will say “What about this tune” and “How can you even mention J.Geils without mentioning that Jam!!??”
